Project 1: Praise You in the Storm – Part 2(Arranging)
Feb 27, 2010 Music
So today, I’m going to record the first layer of this song (this is not the original version). Grand Piano effect to start it all. Here’s the lyrics (below). Cause until now, I still don’t memorize the lyrics.
Things to remember:
Sequence: Stanza 1, Chorus, Stanza 2, Chorus, Bridge, Chorus, Repeat last two lines, done
Tempo: 80 Bpm
Key of E
Layers: Grand Piano and Soft Pad (Drums is in process)
Praise You in The Storm
I was sure by now, God, You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,
stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it’s still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.
Chorus:
And I’ll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I’ve cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm
I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can’t find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I’m with you”
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away
(Repeat Chorus)
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes onto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Project 1: Praise You In The Storm – Part 1 (Getting Used to the Song)
Feb 26, 2010 Music
2/27/2010 1:17 AM – Choosing the right song to start with. Setting up the piano and the computer. Plugging headphones in.
2/27/2010 2:00 AM – Found the right song! Praise You in the storm by Casting Crowns. Why? First, I like the lyrics. The sense of reality is there. When we follow God, it’s not always a sunny day. There will still be storms on the road. And that doesn’t mean, God left us. It’s one of those times when God carries us. We just don’t see it, we don’t feel it either. That’s usually because, our eyes are focused on the storm itself. All we can see is the dark clouds surrounding us. We feel frightened that we call out on God’s Name but our eyes are still on the darkness. We don’t hear God’s answers cause our ears are too busy listening to the thunders or if not, to the ideas we have in mind to get ourselves out of that situation. Almost totally forgetting that God is always in control. God’s eyes are everywhere. He sees our situations and He will help us if we call out to Him with faith in our hearts. Once we do that, then God will take over us and will clear the storms by His Words.
2/27/2010 2:07 AM – Changed the song’s standard chord. From F# to E, to suit a girl’s voice.
2/27/2010 2:51 AM – Done practicing and by now I have an arrangement. This isn’t final yet though.
1st Layer – GrandPiano – 002
2nd Layer – Soft Pad – 309
Guess what? I lost my cable adapter. One I used to record music from my electric keyboard. I’ll just have to buy a new one. Maybe Sunday. And by then, I’ll add more layers to this song.
