You were riding a bus. The driver turned the radio on. It’s around 2 o’clock in the afternoon and the songs were soft and sad. When you listen closely to the song not thinking about anything else, what do you think will you feel? You will feel the song. You don’t usually notice it but, your body moves to tune of the song, following its beat. Now the lyrics – say you’re listening to a song about a heart break – the lyrics will overtake your mind. Though not always, but most of the time.

Have you heard of the song “Everytime” by Britney Spears? When you’re in the park and someone plays that song and it draws your attention, there are changes you won’t notice in you. The song is soft but emotional. And if you listen to it more and more you become soft and emotional. That’s why Emo people listen to Emo songs. Tell me what you’re listening to, and I’ll tell you who you are.

Music is just another factor that affects our daily life. Just like – family, peers and experiences. It’s one of those where we base our decisions, emotions and judgment.

A powerful song that comes with great lyrics and addictive tune can affect the decisions of thousands of people in a day.

During Election Days, candidates usually prepare their own songs to promote themselves and get more followers. Notice at a party, music will never be absent? Upbeat music is always present at a party cause that brings the party feeling to everyone. Music is feeling.

Almost everytime I go out from work, I play the song “Lovely Day” by Kirk Franklin. With its upbeat tone and great lyrics to start a day, I get home with high spirits. And I don’t feel that weak.

Same thing goes to our christian living and our daily walks with God. Listening to sad songs, make you sad. And that’s not part of God’s plan for you. He wants us to rejoice and be glad. Try playing a praise song everyday. Before starting your day. You’ll be surprised how big the effect is in your life. Your mood the whole day will change and the way you accept things is very easy.

However, if you listen to songs that promote drug use, immorality, alcohol and destruction – you’ll find your decisions and the way see things could be different than a normal happy person has. If you feed your mind with filthy songs, you’re life is not far from being immoral itself.

Music might be considered as one of the most favorite stuff, but it’s actually far more than that. There’s more to music that changes a life. It’s a beautiful gift from God. Before the earth, music was already there. Music changes things and could possibly change a world.
